REIMAGINE
Building an E-ink learning device for Indian schools.
EARLY-STAGE · INDIA
A distraction-free tablet designed to replace textbooks, notebooks, and worksheets, without the screens, notifications, and eye strain that come with existing digital tools.
The problem we're working on.
A study of over 1,300 students across Pune and Hyderabad found that 77% carry school bags beyond safe weight limits. The average bag weighs 6 to 7 kilograms, well above the 10% of body weight recommended by India's National Education Policy.
Meanwhile, the digital tools meant to solve this bring their own problems. Tablets and laptops arrive loaded with apps, notifications, and distractions that don't belong in a classroom. Their screens strain young eyes. Their batteries last hours, not days.
Students today are carrying too much, and the tools meant to help them carry less are making them less focused, not more.
A different kind of device.
REIMAGINE is an E-ink tablet designed specifically for Indian classrooms. E-ink is the same screen technology used in Amazon Kindles; it reflects light like paper, not backlit like a phone. That means no glare, no blue light, and a battery that lasts over a week on a single charge.
Unlike a tablet, it has no apps, no social feeds, and no notifications. Unlike a notebook, it holds an entire academic library in under 400 grams. It's built for two things: reading and writing. That's it.
Paper-like.
Reflects light like paper. No glare, no blue light, no eye strain.
Week-long battery.
Over seven days on a single charge, because E-ink uses power only when refreshing the screen.
No distractions.
No apps, no social feeds, no notifications. Just reading and writing.
Where we are in the journey.
REIMAGINE is an early-stage. We are pre-product, working directly with a small number of Indian schools as design partners to understand what a classroom actually needs from this kind of device. We're not selling anything yet. We're learning, building, and shaping the product with the people who'll use it.
If you're a school interested in being part of that process, we'd like to hear from you.
